Terry Jacklin
It is with sincere regret that we announce the passing away of Terry Jacklin. Terry lived at Gringley-on-the-Hill and had been a long time supporter of the Grove and Rufford Hunt. As well as being a keen car follower he will be remembered for helping out at Hunt functions organizing the car parking. His funeral will be held at Rose Hill Crematorium, Doncaster on Monday, 6th September at 12 noon. Donations to Leukemia Research and the G&RH.

Message from the Joint Masters
To all Farmers, Hunt Subscribers and Supporters of the Grove and Rufford Hunt.

If we look back just six weeks, anybody would have thought that by the middle of August, harvest would have been and gone and that hunting would have been just around the corner. No such luck! The great British weather has and will certainly keep us guessing for a few more years to come yet! All our support goes out to all those farmers who are still struggling against the elements to finish off. As you know it had been our plan to start this Bank Holiday weekend at Little Carlton. This idea had to be abandoned earlier in the week as although in both places the majority of wheat had been cut, there were still fields of uncut corn in just the area where we were most likely to end up! It does not look likely now that we will be out much before Saturday 4th September at Hexgreave at 6.30 am, as we have now also postponed Carrrs Farm, Everton from Thursday 2nd September.

It has been a busy Summer for your two new Joint Masters who have been gradually working their way round the Country meeting Farmers and Supporters of the Grove and Rufford Hunt. We have both been extremely gratified by the enthusiasm and support with which the Hunt is received. This is really something to be proud of and certainly, tell us what we have to live up to! We find ourselves in extremely challenging times, however in February 2005 who would ever have thought we would still be here? Not only hunting, but our Community probably being stronger now more than it has ever been. It is therefore up to every single one of us to feel a sense of great pride that this has been achieved but at the same time to realise what we can do to go forward positively in the future.

Your Masters, and Huntsman are here to show you good sport. We are also here to preseve and promote the valuable role the Grove and Rufford Hunt plays in this particular part of rural Britain today. So, we started with a technical hitch, the weather! Let us now hope for better things to come and to hear those Hounds of ours in full cry on the first morning is something that will be well worth waiting for. The best of luck for the season ahead and Good Hunting wherever you may be.

Festival of Hunting
A lot of Grove & Rufford supporters visted the Festival of Hunting today Wednesday 21st July to support Paul Larby who was showing hounds for the first time for the Grove & Rufford and also to support the two Hunt teams taking part in the Inter Hunt Relay Competition.
The Hounds were a bit overawed by it all and I'm sure Paul will be back next year to have another crack at the rosettes.
The Inter Hunt Relay saw a fantastic win for the GRH Team 1 made up of Georgina Hale with son James and Kate Beaumont with daughter Melanie. Over 30 teams from all over the country took part in the knockout competition and Team 1 had a few nail biting finishes before they convincingly saw off the Meynell & South Staffs in the final.
Commiserations go to Team 2 Paul Newbert, Lucy Dickinson, Daniel Salmon and Emma Garner who were knocked out by Georgina's team in the third round.

Supporters' Horse & Terrier Show
Although we had a disappointing low turnout from the horses & ponies. From the photos & emails received everyone had a lovely day.
We had an excellent turnout in the terrier classes which were keenly contested. Alison Maloney our treasurer was delighted to come 2nd in the supporters' class & her rosette is 'pride of place' in the kitchen!
We hoped to have raised approximately £350 for the hunt.
Thanks to all the sponsors and volunteers who made the day run like clockwork well almost!
